FROM 80’S NEW WAVE TO BAVARIAN POLKA
MEET THE BANDS OF OKTOBERFEST NORTHWEST
The Spazmatics were born in the spring of 1983 when physics professor Kevin Stigwood of Alta Dena High in Thousand Oaks California, lost a debate over String Theory to an upstart pupil in front of the entire student body and faculty. As agreed to by both parties, the loser would have to do anything that the winner demanded, and the victorious prodigy demanded that Mr. Stigwood perform “She Blinded Me With Science” by Thomas Dolby during half-time at an upcoming state basketball championship game.
All the awesome sounds, styles, and way cool dance steps from the 1980’s decade we’d love to forget. Complete with skinny ties, Brill Creamed hair, and horn-rimmed glasses, The Spazmatics recapture all the best of the worst. Outstanding musicianship combined with creative flair and style makes for an evening of pure energy and entertainment. See when The Spazmatics are playing HERE

FIVE-TIME GRAMMY NOMINEE - Dubbed “The Dixie Chick Of the Accordion” by Jay Leno
The squeeze box player and vocalist, the first female artist ever to win a Grammy nod for Best Polka Album, fuses high-energy rock, country, Americana and the traditional music of her ethnic heritage to wow crowds everywhere, from Oktoberfests, to music festivals, coffee houses and Europe!
Although she is considered the new face of accordion music, LynnMarie’s roots in the traditional format run deep. Born and raised in an ethnic Slovenian community in Cleveland, she seemed destined to pick up the accordion from an early age. Thanks to her grandparents, who immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900s, her childhood was rich in Eastern European music and culture; singing and dancing were a natural part of life. She picked up the squeeze box at age 11 and by 13. See when LynnMarie & The Nashville Polka Guys are playing HERE.
Grammy award winning film composer Mateo Messina partnered with Dusty Dunkle, guitar player for the long-time Oktoberfest Northwest queen and headliner Manuela Horn (The Yodeling Dominatrix), to create The Hosen Ones. Mateo writes music for film, including Grammy winning Juno in 2008, as well as television and symphony. The Hosen Ones are rounded out with Seattle music scene superstars and create their own Oktoberfest versions of AC/DC, Van Halen, Heart, Led Zeppelin, Scorpions, Guns and Roses and more. Enzian Schuhplattler is dedicated to the promotion of authentic Bavarian folk dancing, culture, and costumes. “Schuhplattler" is a centuries-old Bavarian and Tirolean folk dance. From flirtatious folk dances to the very showy Schuhplattler dances in which women spin like tops and men show off their high jumping skills, be prepared to be entertained...and perhaps even join in on the fun.
The club was founded in 1965 by German and Austrian immigrants and has performed in the U.S., Canada, and Germany. See when Enzian Schuhplattler are performing HERE.
Doppelbock began a few years ago as a last-minute replacement band for the Leavenworth Oktoberfest. They have since been surprising and entertaining Oktoberfest audiences throughout Oregon and Washington. Blending the traditional German/Polka/Yodeling sound of Doug Stickler and his accordion, with long-time Johnny Limbo & the Lugnuts guitarist Rouke van der Veen’s rock and roll roots, they created what some call Polka Rock.
Completing the sound are Lugnut luminaries Matt Kenney on bass and Jim Parker on drums, with standout saxophone work from Brian McDonald. Their goal is to boldly go where no accordion has gone before.

Paul Ostler, with perfect pitch and skill on the tuba, has played all over the world with 20 years in the Navy band. See when The Bonnie Birch Bavarian Band is playing HERE.
